Positive Patient Experiences Highlighted in Ahmedabad Mirror’s Coverage of Prostate TURP Surgery.

Prostate problems are common in elderly men (60+). Until recently, TURP surgery has been the preferred treatment for prostate issues. However, with the advanced technique of prostatic artery embolization, surgery is no longer required. Prostatic artery embolization is now the most preferred treatment option in the USA, surpassing TURP surgery. Below is the abstract of an article published in the Ahmedabad Mirror, which features a positive patient experience – Dr Mohal Banker, Dr Rozil Gandhi

For Navin patel, 62, of new york., benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and a failed urine flow test at his urologist’s office left him living with urinary problem for several painful weeks. “I have to go for micturition very frequently. Many times its just within 10-15 minutes. Because of such frequency , it am not able to attend any party or social function. Many times urge of micturition is so much that it wet my pants. This is so much embarrassing for me. It disturb my sleep also.,” he recalled. “There’s defi nitely a psychological impact that comes into play when something like that happens.” Roughly 50 percent of men in their 50s and up to 90 percent of men in their 70s and 80s experience BPH. This noncancerous growth of the prostate gland can create issues such as a weak or delayed urination stream, frequent urination at night, and even the inability to urinate without a catheter. Navinbhai was sidelined from his passion with BPH symptoms. He began researching his options, such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). It’s the current standard of care for BPH surgery but the possible side e ects include bleeding, pain, bladder control issues, and sexual dysfunction. It also requires hospitalization and the use of a catheter post-surgery.

A Minimally Invasive Approach

After deciding that TURP wasn’t the right fit for him, navin patel learned about bankers vascular hospital’s interventional radiologists in ahmedabad and prostate artery embolization (PAE) — a minimally invasive procedure that effectively treats BPH without open surgery. “For a case like Mr. navin patel’, the only option at the majority of hospitals in the world is a TURP,” said Dr Mohal banker & DR rozil Gandhi, who are one of the nation’s leading experts in PAE. “Prostate artery embolization is emerging as a fantastic alternative that works wonders for patients who are suffering from BPH. It’s rewarding to offer such an innovative, effective technique that helps people such as Mr. navin patel reclaim their daily life.” Through a pin-size hole in the wrist or groin, an interventional radiologist inserts a small catheter into the artery supplying the prostate to reduce blood fl ow, allowing the gland to shrink. PAE does not require general anesthesia and patients can go home the same day. “When I first met with Dr. Banker for a consultation, he explained everything very clearly and thoroughly,” navin patel said, adding that he appreciated the Interventional Radiology team’s professionalism and expertise in the procedure. And that expertise makes all the difference. Within a few weeks after PAE, the prostate size can shrink by 30 percent or more, easing urinary symptoms, sparing erectile function, and significantly increasing one’s quality of life. It will preserved patients sexual function.

Saved from a Very Different Reality A few days after his outpatient procedure, navinbhai began to experience significant improvements. His frequency for micturition is improved, no sleep disturbance in night. He happily returned to his normal life just one week later. He has since flown from USA TO INDIA for this advanced treatment, he felt right descision taken in his life. “Thanks to Dr. Gandhi and Dr Banker, I was saved from a very different reality,” Navinbhai shared. “I highly encourage anyone who’s living with an enlarged prostate to make an appointment with his team — it was a game-changer for me.
